What Roomful Bingo is

Roomful Bingo is classic bingo with pictures and words instead of numbers. Each set has 48 squares on one theme, and every card shows 24 of them around a free star in the middle, so no two cards are alike. When a square is called, the caller can read its fun fact aloud, which turns a round of bingo into a small lesson or a good talking point. It is free, there is nothing to install, and nobody needs an account.

Play on a TV with phones

  1. Open a game on a TV, a laptop or a classroom projector. Choose a set, how to win and how fast to call. The TV shows a four-letter room code and a QR code.
  2. Players go to roomfulbingo.com/join on their phones and type the code and a nickname. Up to 12 phones can join, and each one gets its own card.
  3. The TV calls the squares one at a time, with the fun fact underneath, and can read each call aloud. Pick a new call every 8, 12 or 20 seconds, or tap Next yourself.
  4. Players tap a square to mark it. For young children, the game can mark called squares for them. When a card has a winning pattern, its BINGO button lights up, and the game checks it against the calls before the TV shows the winner.

Get it on your TV

The game goes on the TV and everyone plays on their own phone. Here are four easy ways to get it there.

2 minutes 18 seconds, with no voice: every step is written on the screen. The video plays from YouTube when you press play. Privacy

Show the steps in writing
  • HDMI cable (any TV): Plug an HDMI cable into your laptop and the TV, then press Input or Source on the TV remote and pick that HDMI port. Windows: press Windows + P and choose Duplicate. Mac: in System Settings › Displays, set the TV to Mirror. Phones need an adapter: USB-C to HDMI (iPhone 15 and newer, many Android phones) or Lightning to HDMI for older iPhones.
  • AirPlay (iPhone, iPad, Mac): Works with Apple TV and many Samsung, LG, Vizio, Sony and Roku TVs. Put your device and the TV on the same Wi-Fi. Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then pick your TV. If the TV shows a code, type it on your device. On a Mac: Control Center › Screen Mirroring › your TV.
  • Google Cast (Chrome, Android): Works with Chromecast, Google TV and TVs with Google Cast built in. In Chrome, click ⋮ › Cast, save, and share › Cast…, then pick your TV (casting a tab also sends the game's sound). On Android, open the Google Home app, press and hold your TV, tap Cast, then Cast my screen.
  • Screen mirroring (Android, Windows): Samsung Galaxy: swipe down, tap Smart View, pick your TV, tap Start now. Roku: mirroring is on already; choose Allow when the TV asks. Fire TV: hold Home on the remote, choose Mirroring, then connect from your phone. Windows: press Windows + K and pick your TV.
  • Tips: Turn on Do Not Disturb so messages don't pop up on the TV. Want to play too? Put a laptop or tablet on the TV and play on your phone. Choppy picture? Move closer to your Wi-Fi router, or use a cable.

Menus can look a little different depending on your TV, phone and software version.

Play with printed cards

No TV? Open a set, choose how many cards you need (up to 30) and print them, two to a US Letter page, with a one-page caller sheet. Every card has its own number in the corner. The caller reads the squares from the sheet in a random order and ticks each one, and players mark their cards with coins, buttons, cereal or a crayon. When someone shouts "Bingo!", the caller checks that line against the ticks.

You can mix the two: some players on phones, others on paper. When a paper player calls "Bingo!", the host types the card number and the TV checks the card.

Free, private and family-friendly

Like trivia? Roomful Trivia works the same way: the TV asks, and everyone answers on their own phone.
